How secure is your home and how do you protect your property from being a target of crime? Here are some tips:

  • Criminals are opportunists so they are more likely to target a property that looks open, vulnerable or empty. Put measures in place to make sure your property looks lived in and busy.
  • If you are going away for a holiday make sure you tell your neighbours and ask them to keep an eye on your property while you’re away. This might include getting them to collect your mail – an overstuffed letter box is a tell-tale sign no one is home.
  • Consider employing a security company to help improve the security of your residency. We invest time researching the best security products and services. Sectrol can help with alarm installation, alarm responses, alarm monitoring, system maintenance and more. Alarm can have a preventative effect by making criminals think twice before targeting your property.
  • Remember the basics: Lock all your doors and windows whenever you go out, even if it is for a short time, don’t keep large amounts of money in your home and make sure expensive items such as laptops or iPads aren’t left lying near windows with the curtains drawn when you aren’t home.
